Tradition and culture in the holiday area Alpe di Siusi - Fiè allo Sciliar
The hay baths and the autumnal “Törggelen” represent two traditional and cultural highlights during your holiday in Fiè allo Sciliar
Traditions and old customs
Long-standing traditions and old customs exist for generations in Fiè allo Sciliar. During the traditional "Ostereierpecken" on the village square, locals and guests meet for a pleasant get together while eating Easter bread and drinking wine. A very special tradition in Fiè allo Sciliar is the hay bath. The hay baths, also called "Alpenbadl", have a beneficial and healthy effect on the body which has been known for over 100 years. Previously the farmers slept on the freshly dried alpine meadow hay and woke up rested and refreshed to restart their hard work.Hay baths
Since 1890 in Fiè allo Sciliar the hay baths are offered as an exceptional spa experience. Another highlight awaits the tourists in June and in October. As part of the natural food weeks and the "Dispensa di Fiè", the local restaurants serve specialties from South Tyrol. Also during the annual “Törggelen” in autumn, different farms invite you on a culinary expedition. In Fiè allo Sciliar numerous events around culture and tradition can be explored in summer and in winter.
